  • The details of an ancient limber pine in the Days Fork, Wasatch Mountains. During the late 1800's to early 1900's the forests of the Wasatch were clear cut. Much of what is seen today is what has been replanted, beginning in the 1920's. Ocassionally while hiking the Wasatch you may come across one of these gradfather trees… some believe they were left standing because they were too twisted to be used for lumber.

We traveled silently through a forest of spruce only speaking on occasion. Eventually we climbed to a ridge and looked out across the central Wasatch Mountains. Anger, frustration, confusion, tears. Our hearts are broken.
