In the 1950's the Soviet Union built up the village of Jyrgalan by starting a coal mine above town. At its height over 50,000 people called the village home. After Kyrgyzstan won its independence in the 1990's the population has dwindled to near 1800. This apartment buiding along with several other buidings are left vacant, Jyrgalan, Kyrgyzstan.
